Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

The Evoque is nothing if not a head-turner, but its visual drama compromises practicality. Available in either three- or five-door body styles (a convertible goes on sale in mid-2016), the styling comes at a cost to both cargo space and outward visibility. A 240-hp turbo four with a nine-speed automatic and a firm suspension give it the moves to match its sporting character, but the ride is often harsh and raucous. The lavish interior impresses, with high-quality materials and luxury features.

JLR believes it can succeed where Nissan so gloriously failed.

Witness, lovers of the droptop SUV, the Evoque convertible in production guise, complete with a roof that lowers itself in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph. In its nose, the Evoque carries the same 240-hp turbocharged four-banger as it has since its 2012 launch. The engine is bolted to the same ZF nine-speed automatic transmission it acquired for 2014, running through an AWD system closely relatedto the one in the upcoming Ford Focus RS, minus the Ford’s hoon-couraging “drift mode.”
The top lies flush with the beltline when stowed, while out back, a trunklet reminiscent of the Mini Cooper convertible’s provides 8.9 cubic feet of storage. A ski pass-through is available. Up front, the two-door convertible features Jaguar Land Rover’s new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system and a 10.2-inch screen from which to operate it.
How much will all this open-air CUV-ing cost a person? A basic SE Dynamic package–equipped model will run $51,470 to start, which is roughly $10,000 more than Nissan asked for its entry in the segment. Deliveries will begin in the middle of next year. Is producing the Evoque convertible a fool’s errand? In light of the CrossCab’s fate, most likely. Are we exceedingly pleased that Land Rover is forging ahead anyway? Absolutely. There can never be too much weirdness in this business. Just ask Homer.

The 10 Most Expensive Mercedes In The World

The 10 Most Expensive Mercedes In The World
If you thought spending one million dollars on a car is expensive, think again. This list will feature cars that cost over $1 million. These cars carry such insane price tags due to many reasons like their expensive accessories, powerful engines, rich history and impressive performance among many other reasons. Most of these cars are owned by individuals who are more interested in collecting them than driving them. In fact, most of the cars that will be featured on this list are limited editions.
This article will focus on one of the best car makers in the world; Mercedes. It is a fact that Mercedes is one of the most superior car brands in the world. This can be attributed to the fact that Mercedes-Benz concentrates on making cars for the high end car market. When you buy a Mercedes, you expect nothing but the best.
This has been the case since Mercedes-Benz; a German automobile manufacturing company was founded by Karl Benz in 1926. The company has been making some of the best, most expensive, cars in the world. If you are interested in discovering some of the most expensive Mercedes in the world today, below is a list of the top 10 most expensive Mercedes in the world.

10. SLR McLaren SLR FAB Design Desire (Price: $1.43 million)

2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren FAB Design Desire
This 2009 McLaren SLR makes it to this list because of its $1.43 million price tag. This can be attributed to the car’s impressive specifications. This Mercedes has a 5.4 litre V8 engine which translates to 750 hp engine power and 552 kW of torque. The SLR McLaren SLR FAB Design Desire has a top speed of 310 km/h and is capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in a record 3.6 seconds.

9. SLR McLaren Mansory Renovatio (Price: $1.5 million)

2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Mansory Renovatio

The 2008 SLR McLaren Mansory Renovatio takes 9th place in this list because of its $1.5 million price tag. This car costs more than the 2009 SLR FAB Design Desire due to many reasons. First and foremost, it is faster with a 340 km/h top speed. The Mansory Renovatio can do 0 to 100 km/h in a record 3 seconds. The Mansory Renovation also has a bigger engine (5.5 litre V8) than the 2009 SLR FAB Design Desire.

8. Concept S-Class Coupe (Price: $2 million)

8

This 2013 Mercedes makes it to this list because of its $2 million price tag. This Mercedes costs that much simply because it is a concept car. The specifications are not very impressive compared to other cheaper cars on this list. It has a top speed of 300 km/h, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, 455 hp and a 4.7 litre V8 engine. The fact that this car hasn’t been commercially produced is the main reasons it costs $2 million and makes it to this list.

7. Vision SLR Concept (Price: $2 million)

7

This 1999 Mercedes is also a concept car like the s-class coupe. Like the Concept S-Class Coupe, the vision SLR concept was never commercially produced. The only vision SLR concept model ever made costs $2 million simply because it is unique. This is precisely why this car makes it to this list although the specifications aren’t that impressive. It has a 5.5 litre V8 engine, 320 km/h top speed, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and an engine power and torque of 557 hp and 410 kw respectively.

6. CLK GTR AMG Coupe (Price: $3 million)

1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG Coupe

In regards to engine size, this 1998 Mercedes is among the most expensive cars on this list. The 1998 CLK GTR AMG Coupe has a 7.3 litre V12 engine and has an impressive top speed of 335 km/h. The CLK GTR AMG Coupe can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a record 3.4 seconds. This makes the car one of the fastest on this list. The engine power and torque are also impressive at 664 hp and 488 kW respectively. Considering this Mercedes has very impressive specs and costs $3 million, it surely deserves to be in this list.

5. CLK GTR AMG Super sport (Price: $3.3 million)

2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG Super Sport

Like the CLK GTR AMG Coupe, this Mercedes has a very powerful engine; a 7.3 litre V12 engine. The CLK GTR AMG Super sport is faster than the CLK GTR AMG Coupe given the fact that it has a top speed of 346 km/h. The CLK GTR AMG Super sport also boasts of having a higher engine power and torque with 720 hp and 529 kW respectively. This Mercedes also has a very sleek design.

4. CLK GTR AMG Roadster (Price: $3.5 million)

4
The 2002 CLK GTR AMG roadster makes it to the top 5 of this list because it is an expensive and extremely powerful Mercedes Benz model. This Benz is also rare which is one of the main reasons it costs $3.5 million. The 2002 CLK GTR AMG Roadster also has impressive specifications like a 6.9 litre V12 engine which allows the car to reach a top speed of 320 km/h. The CLK GTR AMG Roadster can do 0 to 100 km/h in a record 3.8 seconds.

    2017 Audi R8 Spyder

    http://lln.mnmcdn.com/photos/cars/audi/thumbnails5.0/2017-audi-r8-spyder-1_318.jpghttp://lln.mnmcdn.com/photos/cars/audi/thumbnails5.0/2017-audi-r8-spyder-5_318.jpg

All-new for the latest model year, the Audi R8 Spyder is a mid-engined supercar that boasts a Lamborghini-derived V10 engine and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system. Despite its high performance capabilities, the R8's user-friendly nature and comfortable cabin actually make it suitable as a daily driver.

    Under the Hood
The original R8 was offered with either a V8 engine or a V10, but the second-generation model is V10-only for the time being.
The 10-cylinder in question is a Lamborghini-derived naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter unit that makes 540 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 398 pound-feet of torque at 6,500 rpm. Linked exclusively to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission controlled by shift paddles, the V10 sends the R8 from zero to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of nearly 200 mph. Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system helps put the power to the ground.
To keep fuel economy in check, the R8 Spyder packs a start/stop system, a coasting function built into the transmission and Audi's cylinder on-demand technology, which seamlessly turns the V10 into a straight-five when its full output isn't needed.
    Looking the Part
Staying true to tradition, the R8's design is more evolutionary than revolutionary. It features a sharp-looking front end characterized by a wide rendition of Audi's trademarked Singleframe radiator grille with honeycomb inserts, angular headlights, and a deep bumper with two large air ducts accented by blade-like inserts.
Out back, the R8 features a pair of thin, elongated tail lamps, a discreet spoiler that automatically extends, a sizable air diffuser and two air vents that mirror the ones found up front.
The Spyder's cloth soft top weighs nearly 100 pounds, and it can be opened or closed in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph. When closed, the top flows into a pair of fins that emphasize the R8's long deck lid. It's available in red, black, or brown.

    Life Aboard
The evolutionary treatment continues inside the R8, where the cockpit's basic layout is largely carried over from its predecessor. The coupe is fitted with Audi's Virtual Cockpit, a digital and fully configurable instrument cluster that was inaugurated by the third-generation TT. The driver can configure the high-resolution 12.3-inch screen to display a wide variety of data including navigation directions, acceleration and lateral forces, as well as vital information about the car and its surroundings.
    Connectivity
Every R8 ships with Audi's MMI infotainment system. MMI groups the coupe's entertainment, connectivity, and navigation functions into a single unit.
Another notable high-tech feature offered on the R8 is Audi connect, a software that provides a Wi-Fi connection and lets passengers find places of interest, travel information, weather reports, fuel prices, and even access satellite images from Google Earth. Audi connect is free for six months, and a paid service after that.
    Standard and Optional Features
The R8 Spyder comes standard with automatic LED headlights, high-beam assist, LED tail lamps, power-folding, heated, and auto-dimming mirrors, LED lighting in the engine compartment, automatic A/C, a multi-function steering wheel, Nappa leather upholstery, 18-way power-adjustable sport seats, power windows, a 550-watt sound system with 12 speakers, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and a HomeLink transceiver.
Highlights from the list of option packages include the Diamond Stitch Leather package, which bundles -- you guessed it -- diamond-stitched leather seats and a diamond-stitched Alcantara headliner. Standalone options include carbon ceramic brakes, dynamic steering, contrast stitching, and red brake calipers.Image result for Audi R8 Spyder
    Occupant Safety
Dual front, side/thorax, and knee airbags are fitted as standard. Traction and stability control systems and electronic brake assist are also included.
    Key Competitors
Those in the market for an exotic performance car like the R8 should also consider the tastefully-styled Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster, and the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
